Per la frequenza del corso è richiesta una conoscenza adeguata della lingua inglese, anche non certificata, in quanto sia la sinossi del Corso sia l'esame finale, consistente in un test a risposta multipla, sono in lingua inglese.
Direttore del Corso è il prof. Mark Randol, attualmente Professore di Homeland Security alla Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky, USA.
 
COURSE DESCRIPTION: COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will cover politically-motivated extremist violence in the United States. It includes a discussion of definitional issues, radicalization, major domestic terrorist attacks, current threats, and principal extremist groups and their ideologies. The course will also examine the evolution of U.S. domestic counterterrorism policy, the roles of various U.S. departments and agencies – particularly the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – and the challenges facing law enforcement and security officials attempting to prevent terrorist acts, not just investigate them after they occur. The central question the course will address is “What is the nature of domestic terrorism in the 21st Century in the United States context and what are the challenges of combating it while preserving civil liberties?
